Hey B’nB fans - long time no post! The addition of baby E to the B’nB family put the kibosh on any wannabe farmer activities around here for the last couple years. However, we’re happy to announce that B’nB will be rolling again this summer, only this time under the direction of someone who actually knows what they are doing! This lovely day has finally allowed work in the garden to begin! Pete tilled it up this morning and we got our onions planted this evening. I bought 2 varieties from the Chisago County Master Gardeners and they really needed to get in the ground. We had to take a break this afternoon to test out our new-to-us canoe. It floats! Next weekend, full on planting will ensue. Any takers on being a farmhand for the day???
Good news for all our fabulous workers from last weekend. Some of the trees we planted are starting to bud and all of the fruit is doing well. Lots of flowers on the blueberries, strawberries are getting big! Delicious baked goods will be in all of your futures. Thanks!
60 garlic plants, 5” tall. Perennial herbs growing wild. ~400 seeds sprouted inside. B ‘n B is about to get rolling!
Here’s where the chickens have been cooped up for the winter. It’s the only room in the barn that’s insulated, and used to be the milking room when the farm was a functioning dairy farm. We did have to put a small heater in there and use a heated water dish, but they were pretty toasty and had plenty of room to run around, as well as a couple windows to see what they weren’t missing outside.
